Servants of Christ: A Catholic Blog

     I have made a couple big changes to the blog. The first change is to the name, which I have changed to 'Servants of Christ' because it's the term used in the Bible: This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God  (1 Corinthians 4:1).     The second change I have made is the address for the blog. I made it the translation of 'Servants of Christ' in Latin, which is Servorum Christi.      I hope this has caused no confusion to any readers of the blog. God bless.

      Sorry I'm a day late to those who read the blog. Yesterday was a little bit hectic, and then I forgot. But Christmas is much too important to leave out, so a day after the 25th will have to suffice.     Though we celebrated the day of the Lord's birth yesterday, we still celebrate Christmas today. According to the USCCB, the Christmas season ends on the Baptism of the Lord.  This year the Baptism will occur on the 12th of January, 2025. So we still have some Christmas left. Or if you want to be particularly traditional, you can celebrate Christmas all the way until Candlemas (February 2). I personally like to celebrate until Candlemas, but it's a matter of preference.     I was told by a priest that you can celebrate Christmas year-round. This doesn't refer to 'every day is Christmas' but rather, it means that you can (and should) celebrate the Lord's coming into the earth every day.         Here's a short paragraph on The Sign of the Cross, what it means, and how to pray it.                      The Sign of the Cross is a short prayer; typically used as an opening and closing prayer, but it can be used at any time. The prayer is said like this: "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen", as you say this, touch your right hand to your forehead, then your chest, and then your right and left shoulders. So, your would say "In the name of the Father,"(touch your forehead) "and of the Son,"(touch your chest) "and of the Holy Spirit"(touch your right and left shoulders). Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus offered up His Body as a sacrifice to be continued throughout the ages. This same sacrifice is offered at every Catholic Mass up to the present day. By participating in this sacrifice, the faithful have the opportunity to receive Jesus’s Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist. The reception of Holy Communion is the most solemn prayer that anyone can make on Earth, and it should be respected as such, both in attitude and in proper practice.  Throughout most of the Church’s history, communicants were only allowed to receive the Holy Eucharist on the tongue.      There is this poem called Footprints . It is also known as Footprints in the Sand  and is a beautiful piece of writing on the love of God.  Footprints: One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.  When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.         You may have noticed that some people bow their heads at the mention of Jesus' name. Is this something you should be doing? The answer is yes. I'll give you a couple reasons why.      As it's said in the divine praises. "Blessed be the name of Jesus". Jesus' entire being, including his name, is holy. We should show reverence, by bowing our heads, when his name is spoken. Especially when his name is spoken in vain.      " Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,hand every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
