Servants of Christ: A Catholic Blog

      Now that we've entered a new month, I want to integrate a prayer board for March. It will be on the side bar, and all you need to do is comment any prayer intentions you may have, and we will pray for you and your intentions.      I have been wanting to put this up on Servants of Christ  for a while now, so I'm glad I'm finally getting down to it.       A number of days ago, Pope Francis was hospitalized due to a respiratory infection. The Pope, who is 88 years of age, has spent three nights in the hospital. Thankfully, the Vatican says he is in stable condition, but nevertheless, let us pray for our Vicar of Christ on earth. “O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful, look favorably on your servant Francis, whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd; Grant, we pray, that by word and example he may be of service to those over whom he presides so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may come to everlasting life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.”

    A couple days ago I added two friends to the blog, and last night another one joined. Welcome to the blog Amelia (AMELIA)! She is the sister of Brennan and Landen.       In my endeavor to recruit as many of my Catholic friends as possible into the blog, my friend Landen (Iceman) has been added today. Landen is the brother of blog member Brennan (The_Captain).      Also added to the blog is my friend Santiago (Seager for the Win). We've played baseball together and he attends the Latin Mass at Mater Dei.     Welcome to the blog y'all! Thank you for your contributions of knowledge of the Church to our endeavors.

     I have made a couple big changes to the blog. The first change is to the name, which I have changed to 'Servants of Christ' because it's the term used in the Bible: This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God  (1 Corinthians 4:1).     The second change I have made is the address for the blog. I made it the translation of 'Servants of Christ' in Latin, which is Servorum Christi.      I hope this has caused no confusion to any readers of the blog. God bless.

      Sorry I'm a day late to those who read the blog. Yesterday was a little bit hectic, and then I forgot. But Christmas is much too important to leave out, so a day after the 25th will have to suffice.     Though we celebrated the day of the Lord's birth yesterday, we still celebrate Christmas today. According to the USCCB, the Christmas season ends on the Baptism of the Lord.  This year the Baptism will occur on the 12th of January, 2025. So we still have some Christmas left. Or if you want to be particularly traditional, you can celebrate Christmas all the way until Candlemas (February 2). I personally like to celebrate until Candlemas, but it's a matter of preference.     I was told by a priest that you can celebrate Christmas year-round. This doesn't refer to 'every day is Christmas' but rather, it means that you can (and should) celebrate the Lord's coming into the earth every day.         Here's a short paragraph on The Sign of the Cross, what it means, and how to pray it.                      The Sign of the Cross is a short prayer; typically used as an opening and closing prayer, but it can be used at any time. The prayer is said like this: "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen", as you say this, touch your right hand to your forehead, then your chest, and then your right and left shoulders. So, your would say "In the name of the Father,"(touch your forehead) "and of the Son,"(touch your chest) "and of the Holy Spirit"(touch your right and left shoulders). Notice how we say "In the NAME" and not "In the NAMES" this shows that we acknowledge and believe that God is one in three beings.  We should say the Sign of the Cross with reverence and respect, and not rush.
