The Sign of the Cross: What it is and How to Pray it

Here's a short paragraph on The Sign of the Cross, what it means, and how to pray it.

The Sign of the Cross is a short prayer; typically used as an opening and closing prayer, but it can be used at any time. The prayer is said like this: "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen", as you say this, touch your right hand to your forehead, then your chest, and then your right and left shoulders. So, your would say "In the name of the Father,"(touch your forehead) "and of the Son,"(touch your chest) "and of the Holy Spirit"(touch your right and left shoulders). Notice how we say "In the NAME" and not "In the NAMES" this shows that we acknowledge and believe that God is one in three beings. We should say the Sign of the Cross with reverence and respect, and not rush. By being reverent, we show God that we are choosing to pray, and not that we have to pray. Make sure not to get sloppy with saying it. I've heard people say "In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit". This does NOT count as saying the prayer. Say it thoughtfully and adoringly. It is okay to say it in your head, just remember to focus on what you're saying.
Remember those steps and you should be good. Also remember that it can be said without any other prayers after it. I say it sometimes when I'm asking God for safety. That's all I have to say, thanks for reading. God bless!
